Ubyssey Photographers Unite!: Summer Content #4 - Culture!

Summer Content #4 - Culture!

Culture wants you to take photos for them, and also to come to a BBQ!

BBQ Details: We are holding a culture section social event at the infamous
Ubyssey Haus. It will be a BBQ, to be held at 6:00 PM on July 8th. If
you are interested in attending, send us an email and we will give you
the address for our terrifying but impressive residence in Point Grey.
Reflect with us on the glories of summer.

As always, let me know at photos@ubyssey.ca if you're interested or if there are other stories, concerts, or events you'd like to shoot (and put in the paper/on the website!)

1 - {CULTURE - Vancouver Folk Music Festival}

Photographer: OPEN
Event Date: July 17-19

It's too late to do any preview interviews, but we will be looking for
another writer to send to the event. You can find more information
about the event at: http://thefestival.bc.ca/

2- {CULTURE - Hiking/Camping Guides}
Photographer: OPEN

It's the height of summer, and we would like to produce some guides on
good spots to check out for hiking and camping. If you are familiar
with either, send us an email.

3 - {CULTURE - Illuminares Festival of Light}
Photographer: OPEN
Event Date: July 25

Illuminares: Festival of Light is a yearly lantern festival that takes
place by Trout Lake Park. Last year the organization that puts this
together, the Public Dreams Society, had to cancel the event - at
least officially. It's back this year, so I thought it would be
fitting to do a story. For more information, check out Flickr or go to
http://www.publicdreams.org/

4 - {CULTURE - Purcell's Faerie Queen}
Photographer: OPEN
Event Date: July 25

An olde tymey opera being presented at the Chan Centre. Do people
still do weird stuff like this? I want someone to check it out and
see what's the point of opera, anyways. August 6th at 8pm.

3 - {CULTURE - Pride}
Photographer: OPEN
Event Date: July 25

This year's pride parade has Cleve Jones as one of the Grand Marshals.
Milk, anyone? I'd like whoever does this to take a community based
angle-- or at least something more than, "A bunch of dudes danced on
floats in their undies and I saw an old guy with nipple rings. Yay,
Vancouver is sooo liberal."
August 2nd, and some ground work before hand.
