Every year auto amateurs, gear heads and adrenaline junkies construct eccentric non-motorized carts to compete head-to-head in a downhill battle. This year Red Bull Soapbox Race travels to Vancouver.

Olympic surveillance measures tramping upon UBC students privacy? Am Johal has noted a trend during Olympic games of massive increases of private security on Olympic sites. Much of this is done without any public consultation.

What new, if any, security is being placed in and around UBC in preparation for our own games?

Last year, the UBC Faculty Association demanded a moratorium on the implementation of a recent UBC Senate policy intended to improve the way student evaluations are collected and used by students, instructors, and faculty. The Faculty Association contests that the policy will violate faculty members' rights (ie the teachers didn't want their evaluations going public, thus jeopardizing their future careers).
