MEDIA DEMOCRACY SUPPLEMENT
a couple of dispatches from our Supplement Coordinators:
Racist, sexist, and homophobic? How the unregulated web is actually good for democracy.
The internet is a nasty place and offers anonymity to those that would otherwise be prosecuted by the law for, as an example, spreading hate speech. And yet, our columnist argues that this is good for our democracy.

It's better, and cheaper, than iTunes. All the rage and Europe and yes, you guessed it, Canada doesn't have it.
Long story short this music service has become the darling of Europe. The number of users outstrips that of Apple, or something ridiculously impressive along those lines. And -- they've managed to do it legally!
Soon, they'll be hitting North American shores. They are currently negotiating copyright agreements with American companies, but word about talks in Canada has been suspiciously mum. Will Canadians simply not have access to this service, or will we just have to use it illegally?

as always, send an email off to photos@ubyssey.ca if you're interested, and if there's something you'd like to cover do let me know!
