5 - { NEWS - PARLEZ VOUS FRANCAIS - DONE }
Photographer: Shawn Li
Publication Date: Jan. 19
Writer: Yuliya Talmazan (yytalmazan@shaw.ca)
More must be done to reach Canada's bilingual requirements for 2010, the country's official languages watchdog says in a new report. Determine whether or not VANOC is meeting those requirements willingly, or whether it's an uphill battle for the federal government.
You can contact the writer to figure out ideas, but I think you can do some cool things with a guy/girl holding a french dictionary (upside down maybe??). Again, get CREATIVE.

6 - { NEWS - UBC MANSLAUGHTER }
Photographer: Shawn Li
Publication Date: Jan. 29
Writer: Sarah Chung
(schung1@interchange.ubc.ca)
Murderer allowed to go to school at UBC? A UBC Law Student was found guilty of manslaughter late last year, two and a half years after being charged. During the time in between, he was allowed to go to school at UBC, even allowed to stay on campus in the evening for night classes. I think it would be interesting to explore what actions a university can take with a student who is charged, but not convicted. Were students in his classes warned about this? Is there anything UBC could have done? It would be interesting to find this out...
This is a tough one to shoot...If you have a good idea for a photo illustration let me know.

Would be cool to see a photo of a women's pelvis, with an image of ovaries placed above in Photoshop.
